Use your previous HE study to help you gain an OU qualification
If you have completed study that carries a Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) credit rating from an approved SCQF awarding body then you may be eligible for credit transfer.
Here is the list of the current credit rated bodies:
Credit Rating Bodies | Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (scqf.org.uk)
You may be able to confirm whether your previous study was on the SCQF at the time you studied it by checking the SCQF Database. Please note, this database does not include all historical qualifications. If you think your study may fall into this category then you will need to obtain a formal academic transcript from your previous institution and make an application for credit transfer. Your transcript must show each module/unit that you completed as well as the SCQF level of this unit and the number of SCQF credits associated with this unit.
We award credit on the basis of 1 OU credit to 1 SCQF credit.
SCQF level | OU level |
---|---|
6 or below | Not eligible for credit transfer |
7 | 1 |
8, 9 | 2 |
10 | Considered to be at OU level 3 but can be transferred in place of level 1 and level 2 study. |
11 or above | Postgraduate level |
If your previous study does not carry an SCQF credit rating then we may not be able to consider it for credit transfer unless it is in one of the other categories on our website. To continue with the rest of the previous study finder please choose one of the options below:
