SQA: HNC, HND or professional development award

If you completed study towards an HNC, HND or a professional development award with the SQA within the last 16 years, we may be able to consider your previous study for an award of credit transfer. You will need to provide your official detailed Record of Achievement from the SQA that lists the units completed, the SCQF credit value, and the SCQF level.

SCQF Level 7 is equivalent to OU Level 1 and SCQF Level 8 or above is awarded at OU Level 2. Study completed at SCQF Level 6 or below is not eligible for credit transfer as this is not the higher education level.

Evidence you will need to provide

With your application you should provide your original certificate and your RET or Summary of Attainment, which should show the credit values for the individual units you completed. It may also show the SCQF level of each unit.  If your RET or Summary of Attainment does not show the credit values of each unit, you will need to contact the SQA to obtain them before you submit your application.  Depending upon the qualification you are applying for credit transfer towards you should also provide syllabus information.
