NVQ or SVQ

In around 2010 the NVQ L4/5 changed and began being listed on the Ofqual credit framework (the QCF/RQF) as a Level 4/5 NVQ. This version may include 'Diploma' in the title.  If your NVQ was listed on the QCF/RQF at the time you studied it then you may be eligible for an award of credit transfer, but this will be based on the QCF credit rating of your study and not the information below.

NVQ 4 or NVQ 5

For an NVQ completed at Level 4 or 5, between 2008 to 2011, that was not on the QCF/RQF at the time you completed it, we may be able to make an award of up to 60 credits at Level 2.

If you only completed part of the qualification we are unable to make an award of credit transfer.

We are usually only able to award credit for one NVQ qualification. If you hold more than one NVQ then you should include this information with your application for credit transfer, but it is likely that you will only receive an award of credit transfer for one of the qualifications.

With your application you will need to provide the following.

Your original NVQ certificate and
Your original certificate of unit credit, listing the units you completed towards the qualification.

SVQ 4 or SVQ 5

For an SVQ completed at Level 4 or 5 from 2008 to 2011 we may be able to make an award of up to 60 credits at Level 2.

If you only completed part of the qualification we can only award you credit transfer if the individual units that you completed towards the SVQ carry an SQA credit value and are at SCQF Level 7 or above. If the units have not been assigned this SQA credit rating then we can not consider a part-completed SVQ.

We are usually only able to award credit for one SVQ qualification. If you hold more than one SVQ then you should include this information with your application for credit transfer, but it is likely that you will only receive an award of credit transfer for one of the qualifications.

With your application you will need to provide the following.

  • Your original SVQ certificate
  • Your original record of attainment, listing the units you completed towards the qualification.

The following particular N/SVQ can be considered for a different award of credit transfer, the remaining information above applies to these qualifications as well.

N/SVQ Level 4 in Children's Care, Learning and Development (CCLD)

For an N/SVQ Level 4 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development (CCLD) (not Level 4 NVQ on the QCF) completed from 2008 to 2011, we can award up to 60 credits at Level 1 and 60 credits at Level 2.
